ICON for white spots removal
ICON for white spots removal
Safer & less invasive technique to treat white spots on teeth
Short description:
White spots on teeth can often be mistaken for stains or debris on the teeth. Some of the causes of white spots include trauma, poor oral hygiene during treatment with braces, certain diseases you could be born with or an excessive consumption of fluoride when the teeth are developing. Traditionally these spots were drilled out and fillings were used to improve the appearance, however modern dentistry has allowed for the development of safer and less invasive techniques such as ICON.
- Consultation appointment to discuss your needs, desired outcome and what are the best options to enhance your smile.
- Teeth whitening is conducted if required.
- Teeth are cleaned, rinsed and dried.
- Application of an etching gel to roughen the surface of the spot.
- Application of ICON infiltrate to blend white spots to rest of the tooth.
- Application of blue light to harden up the material.
- Repeat above three steps until white spots are eliminated.
- Polish teeth.
- Uniform appearance of teeth.
- Confident smile.
- Safe, minimally invasive treatment.
- No damage to your natural tooth structure.
- ICON can also be used to treat small areas of decay, thus avoiding the need of having a filling.
- Depending on the extent of the white spots, some patients require teeth whitening prior to ICON treatment to improve the shade of their teeth. Whitening will not treat the white spots.
- ICON treatment allows us to blend in the white spots to the tooth surface and eliminate their appearance.
- We would first clean and dry the teeth and then apply an etching gel on the surface of the white spot to roughen the surface.
- We would then apply the ICON infiltrate solution on the spot and use a blue light to harden up the solution.
- This process is repeated until the white spot is no longer visible.
- Teeth are then polished and your new smile is ready!
